My Journey

I graduated from May River High School in 2020, a pivotal moment that set the stage for my future endeavors. My high school experience was enriched by various activities, including playing in the band for four years and competing in track and field as a shot-put thrower. However, I always knew my path would lead to the world of technology. This passion became the driving force behind my decision to pursue a college education.

I believe technology has the power to solve real-world problems, and I am excited to be part of this ever-evolving field. My decision to pursue a career in technology stems from my love for innovation and my desire to make a positive impact on society. Hello, My name is Roddey. I'm a 20-year-old student at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, pursuing a major in Information Science and Technology. Born and raised in Okatie, South Carolina, I have a deep connection to my roots and enjoy contributing to my community. Alongside my studies, I work at Publix as a grocery replenishment specialist, where I take pride in ensuring that customers have access to a well-stocked store. Balancing my academic and work responsibilities has taught me valuable time management skills, and I am eager to apply my knowledge of information science to make a positive impact in the tech industry. What I do outside of my work

Gym/Running

Since July 2023, I have been active in the gym, which plays a big role in improving my exercise routine and overall health. I also enjoy giving advice on diet, form, and technique to friends and family. Additionally, I love running and training for races such as 5Ks, 10Ks, and even a half-marathon!

Video Games

Since I’ve made games before, I like to play a bit in my free time, too. These days, I’m more into story-driven games—they really pull me in with their characters and narratives, and I guess my taste has shifted as I’ve gotten older. Working on games has given me a deeper appreciation for how much thought goes into them, and it’s fun to see how others bring their ideas to life.

Music

I love playing music, whether it’s through singing, playing the drums, or strumming the guitar. It’s a fun but admittedly expensive hobby! One of my dreams is to be part of a gigging band and take on the role of the frontman. I also love going to concerts to see the bands I actively listen to and grew up with. There’s such a big difference when you hear the music live—it’s an incredible experience!
